Global Warming And The Future Of The Earth
There are many theories on how global warming will affect the future of the earth. When you gather information on the subject, you’ll find many different opinions and time frames as to what and when things are expected to happen. Therefore, it’s a little difficult to know exactly what major changes will take place.
Scientists don’t agree on how fast the earth is heating up, the direct cause of global warming, and many other things. Nevertheless, there are a few things that everyone seems to agree on. For instance, they do agree that many changes could take place if the planet becomes too hot such as the ones listed below.
Ways global warming could affect the earth:
- The polar icecaps will melt.
- The oceans will begin to consume the land.
- It’s expected that much of the land will be flooded.
- There will be dramatic weather changes.
- It will directly affect the crops and how they can be grown.
- Stronger hurricanes and tornadoes are predicted.
- Saltwater could mix with freshwater depleting the availability of drinking water.
These are just some of the predictions associated with global warming. There is no one that can predict exactly what will happen or even when these events will take place. However, research now shows that we may be dealing with this problem much sooner than when it was first predicted. More research needs to be done and some things won’t be apparent until they actually happen.
In addition to the carbon emissions that are believed to be directly linked with global warming, there are two other contributing factors. They are the depletion of trees and the earth’s astounding population increase. Most scientists also agree that steps need to be taken to protect the planet and its inhabitants although, they don’t always agree on what these steps should be.
