There has been much talk and confusion about the beliefs surrounding global warming. In fact, there is so much confusion that it can be a little difficult figuring out exactly what’s going on. If you’re trying to get an idea of what the outlook for the future of the planet is, the conclusion you come up with will greatly depend on who you listen to.

Regardless of whether you call them beliefs or myths, it’s the different opinions that make the issue of global warming so confusing. For instance, some believe that the earth is benign, while others believe it’s ephemeral or temporary. When people say the earth is benign, it means that they feel the earth can bounce right back from any damage it encounters because it’s predictable and healthy. People who believe the planet is ephemeral actually believe that it’s very fragile and the end is a huge possibility.

Some believe that nature is tolerant and others believe it’s capricious. By saying the earth is tolerant, it means that these people believe the earth can withstand quite a few changes but too many of these changes will definitely end in disaster. If you believe nature is capricious then you believe that the earth is so unpredictable that there’s no way for anyone to predict or plan for the future.

The bottom line is that at this particular point in time, the effects that global warming will have on the planet are, for the most part, a mystery. Only time and more research will separate the beliefs from the facts. There is simply not enough knowledge surrounding the matter for anyone to know exactly what will happen. Still, there are a few things that are known for a fact. The earth is changing, the temperature is rising, and the future is unknown.
