Global Warming

You have most likely heard a lot about global warming over the past several years but is it a real threat? Should you be concerned about global warming? In order to answer these questions you need to take a look at all the information that’s been collected throughout the years. Global warming is caused by air pollution and carbon dioxide that collects in the atmosphere like a blanket covering the earth. The sun’s heat is trapped between the blanket and the earth causing it to warm up over a period of time.

Air pollution and carbon dioxide are caused by many different things but the three main sources include airplanes that burn high-octane oil, coal-burning power plants and all fuel burning automobiles.

The threat of global warming is increased by the following factors:

  • The human population has increased six-folds throughout the last two centuries and technology has grown at an astounding rate. All of which has tremendously added to the amount of pollution produced.
  • Economic activity has doubled.
  • Carbon dioxide levels have risen approximately 30% since the industrial revolution began, due to the burning of fossil fuels.
  • Scientific studies show that the average temperature for the earth has risen more in the last fifty years than it has in all of recorded history.
  • It’s estimated that at this rate, the earth’s average temperature could rise between three and nine degrees by the end of this century.

The evidence pointing to global warming is all around us. It’s creating heat waves, dust storms, floods, droughts, wildfires and shorter winters. Evidence points to the fact that global warming does exist and that it is a real threat to life as we now know it.
